What is Carbonized Ash Wood?

Our new carbonized ash table tops aren’t just another wood table! These table tops go through a unique finishing process that make them stand out and stand up to daily wear and tear. Carbonized ash wood is commonly used in architecture and flooring, but with the way it is finished, it’s also ideal for restaurant use!

Similar to our butcher block tables, these table tops are made by taking 2” thick ash wood pieces and gluing them together with commercial adhesive. After these tables are put together, they are purposely burned in an oven. This burning gives the tables a charred, rich brown color and strengthens the material by caramelizing the sugars in the wood. Through this heat-treating, the wood becomes less likely to crack or warp. After the oven, the tables are sanded and top coated.

The carbonization process leads to beautiful and high performing tables that you can depend on in your restaurant for many customers and years to come!
